Born on December 14, 1988, the 18 year old actress and singer Vanessa Hudgens hails from Salinas, California, U.S.A and is known for her performances in High School Musical and Thirteen and Thunderbirds.
Vanessa is the daughter of Greg Hudgens and Gina Guangco. Her younger sister Stella Hudgens is also an actress. Vanessa’s first performance was at the age of eight in a musical theater as a singer. She also appeared in the local productions of Carousel, The Wizard of Oz, The King and I, The Music Man. This was followed by a successful auditioning for a commercial which took the entire Hudgens family to Los Angeles.
Hudgens didn’t wait much for the offers. She soon scored some good roles in shows such as Quintuplets, Cover Me and Still Standing. Hudgens made her first feature debut as Noel in Thirteen, a 2003 film co-written by Catherine Hardwicke and Nikki Reed. The following year she was seen playing the character of Tintin in Thunderbirds. On the small screen Hudgens is known her roles in Quintuplets, Still Standing, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and Drake & Josh. But the best was ye to come. In 2006 Hudgens appeared as a teenage girl in the Disney Channel movie named High School Musical which brought her immense name and fame. According to the BBC News, the film’s success turned Hudgens into a “household name” in North America. Hudgens and Efron also won the “Best Chemsitry” award at the Teen Choice Awards for their superb performances.
Hudgens early achievements fetched her, a big contract from Old Navy to appear in several commercial of the company. Prior to this, in 2005, Hudgens had also appeared in a swimwear commercial for the same company. She was seen as a teenage daughter in a Blockbuster commercial for no late fees. As of now (2007) Hudgens is the chosen face of Neutrogena appearing both in film and print ads. Hudgens is also promoting the Ecko line. She is also a part of the Disney Channel Games 2006 which aired two months later.
Hudgens has garnered popularity in the field of music too. Her debut album entitled V, was released in early September 2006 after which she signed with Hollywood Records, a Disney owned record label. In August 2007 Hudgens was named the Choice Breakout Singer- Female at the Teen Choice Awards. She won against some fairly famous American Idol contestants namely Katharine McPhee, Amy Winehouse, Corrine Bailey Rae and Lily Allen.
In her personal life, Hudgens confirmed the Teen magazine that she is currently dating her High School Musical and High School Musical 2 co-star Zac Efron.
Recently Hudgens was involved in a photo scandal in which her nude picture was put up online. According to Hudgen publicist the picture was private and “unfortunately” got released on the internet. However Hudgens apologized for this and regretted taking such photos.

“High School Musical 3” on a Promotional Campaign
To get itself relieved of the hectic filming and acting schedule the cast of “High School Musical 3: Senior Year” was a bit busy with the promotion and participating in start-of-production press conference at East High School in Salt Lake City on 2nd Friday.
Among the coterie presented at the press conference were Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman, along with director Kenny Ortega.
Ashley was excited with the activities as the principal photography stage of production was about to commence and she referred it to be the end on an era, She earlier told media,
“I’m excited. But it’s going to be sad. It seems like it will be graduation and I’ll be crying while we’re filming.”
Meanwhile Director Kenny Ortega was pleased with the cast of the high school musical, he commented on the cast, “I am the luckiest guy in the world and I know it. This will be our last time together and I love working with these kids so much. It’s going to be great.
